When considering wallpapering bathrooms and other rooms in a house, it could be worth noting that coloured patterns can do a lot to set the mood in living spaces.

This is according to the Tigard Times, which observed that choosing a product that complements fabrics, bathroom accessories, lighting and furniture can help create an area powered by an individual's personality.

For example, a smaller bathrooms could be covered in yellow paper with golden starbursts – as one homeowner opted for – which the newspaper described as uplifting and jazzy.

Speaking to the Tigard, specialist Joe Ackerman suggested heading to the web for a bit of inspiration as there are thousands of options to look at.

"Consider your goals. Do you want to make a bold or subtle statement? Do you want to introduce a new colour or work with one that already exists?" he said.

According to interior designer Sonu Matthew, discussing the matter with the Washington Examiner, trends for 2011 include vintage wine and other vibrant hues.
