Update bathroom cabinets ‘to sell properties’

With spring just around the corner, the number of buyers and sellers entering the market looks set to increase, it has been suggested – and one way of ensuring that sale is by updating bathroom furniture.

Speaking to the Star Tribune, Gregg Larsen – a US-based estate agent – explained that those with new jobs begin ramping up property searches to ensure they are settled by the autumn when school starts, while others “get cabin fever” and are keen to move.

He advised homeowners looking to sell their residences to refresh bathroom furniture such as cabinets, as well as carrying out necessary repairs to their bathrooms and other rooms.

Other tips included removing “edgy artwork”, repainting walls and the front door and trimming trees and overgrown bushes.

Interior designers Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan of YourHome – part of the Toronto Star – recently made similar suggestions, advising people to keep rooms as neutral as possible to add value to a house.
