Keeping a well-stocked soap dispenser and clean towels on your towel rail may seem like such an obvious part of the housekeeping routine – but are people using these items when they clean their mitts?
According to the Weekly Herald, washing one’s hands is an important thing to do to ensure the summer holidays are not rife with tummy bugs – as being active in the garden, being around animals and going to festivals can all result in contracting bacteria that can result in a nasty upset.
Health officer Dr Gray Goldbaum told the news source that petting farms were a particularly hazardous source of germs for little ones.
Public health experts have claimed running hands briefly under the tap is not good enough to achieve proper cleanliness, before recommending singing a verse of Old MacDonald while lathering soap as a good way to ensure bacteria is washed away.
