Bathroom tiles ‘are the best for flooring’
There are many kinds of materials that are fashionable underfoot in the bathroom these days – with everything from laminates, lino, stone and carpet appearing in designer portfolios.
However, award-winning interiors expert Jamie Hempsall, writing for the Yorkshire Post, claimed that bathroom tiles are still the ultimate flooring material for the bathroom.
He recognised they can sometimes be a tad cold for comfort when nipping out of the shower on a winter morning and recommended investing in under-floor heating – a relatively inexpensive luxury that can add value to a home.
And when choosing furnishings for a smaller washroom, Mr Hempsall suggested keeping clean lines and clever storage solutions in mind, as this can create the illusion of space.
Last week, Lesley Taylor, interior designer and design director at Taylor’s Etc, recommended using natural stone tiles in the bathroom and advised investing in Italian-style furnishings, which are sure to make a comeback in a big way.
