Bathtub race held
If you thought taking a half-hour dip with your rubber duckie and battleship was exciting then you’re in for a surprise to learn that a clutch of madmen with a need for speed took to the waters in their baths in July for a race.
Yes, the Great International World Championship Bathtub Race took place again on Sunday 23rd July at the annual Naniamo Marine Festival, British Columbia, Canada.
According to the Daily News, racers spend as much as C$3,000 (£1,940) kitting out their baths to make them seaworthy enough to float expediently around Entrance Island to Winchelsea Islands and back to the finishing line in Departure Bay.
The race has changed route since its fledgling years in the 1960s and is now enjoyed by some 50,000 spectators.
