You may be a spiritual soul with oils burning around the house and maybe even the odd Buddha statue to help remind you to maintain a relaxed frame of mind – but does any of this extend into your bathroom?

If you are interested in the ancient Chinese method of Feng Shui – balancing a home to make it functional and pleasing to be in – then one of the first things to consider is the notion of support, according to Fengshui.co.uk director Jon Sandifer.

The expert claimed this is essential if a householder wants to feel safe in a room. In the bathroom, could this be achieved with a big, comfy bath that’s good for prolonged soaks, or maybe a large shower with a bench feature?

“Always have support behind you. This is borne out of the symbolism in Chinese, which is known as the Mountain,” Mr Sandifer explained.
