‘Embrace contrasting colours’ in the bathroom suite

This summer is ideal for extroverted decorating fans because an interiors pro has revealed 2011 is the year of the contrasting colour pallet – which could look great in the bathroom.

Neil Partridge, design director of NGI Design in Stamford, Lincolnshire, said that using bold colours on bathroom furniture, the walls and anywhere else that will take a coat of a fruity hue is very much in vogue at the moment.

“If you’re feeling brave, opt for furniture in zesty shades but be sure to introduce colour through one key item to avoid conflict between pieces,” he suggested.

Mr Partridge explained that a good way to balance out all the bright and vibrant tones is by using clean, white sanitaryware and sticking to plain porcelain bathroom suites.

And for a quick-fix washroom revamp, applying a coat or two of contrasting colours to your bathroom cabinets could give them a new lease of life, according to style journalist Gabrielle Fagan who suggests sticking to renovating the cupboards in Wales Online.
