The medicinal benefits of soaking in a hot bath are well known it is an historic remedy for stress, aching muscles and sprains but it seems a warm bath is also a good way to help out babies with sensitive skin.
According to Dr Susan Mayou, consultant paediatric dermatologist from the Cadogen Clinic in London, a daily dip in the bath with an oil is recommended.
She said that using oils as a soap substitute will mean the skins PH levels are not affected.
When it comes to removing tots from their warm soak, Dr Mayou said patting them dry was advisable, because rubbing with a rough towel could damage their epidermis further. And once they are dry, she said a layer of cream would help lock in the moisture and allow the skin to recover.
One way to make youngsters feel more comfortable in the bathroom is by investing in scaled-down fixtures for the smallest room, because style author Sandra Soria told the News Observer that this was a way to make bathing fun.
