It’s easy to pay someone to install your walk in shower screen. But, with our step-by-step guide, you’ll see just how easy it is to do it yourself. So, put the phone down, and pick up the drill. We’ll help you achieve the perfect installation, without forking out for expensive fitting costs.

Remember, not all walk in shower enclosures are the same; some may have slightly different instructions. So, please make sure you refer to your installation manual alongside our guide.

Before you get started:

  1. You’ll probably need an extra pair of hands, so think about who’d make the perfect assistant and give them a call.
  2. Turn the water off! No one likes a flooded bathroom. Do it now, thank us later.
  3. Check you’ve removed everything from the packaging – it’s good to check under flaps and deep in the box corners.

You will need:

  • Claw hammer
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Hack saw
  • Spirit level
  • Silicone sealant
  • Sealant gun
  • Screwdrivers
  • Wood chisels
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Goggles

Step 1 – Installing the wall profile

Stand your first wall profile in position, 10-15mm in from the outer edge of your shower tray, if you’ve got one. Then, using your spirit level, check it is perfectly vertical before marking the fixing holes with an ‘X’, using your pencil.

Choose the right drill bit for your wall and plugs. Put on your goggles and drill your fixing holes.

Add the plugs, gently tapping them into place with your hammer. Next, line up the profile again and secure it in place. Double check it’s vertical with your spirit level - this is super important. If it’s not quite vertical, the rest of the enclosure won’t fit into place.

If your screen incorporates a floor profile, repeat these steps.

Step 2 – Adding the glass panel

Once your profile is secure, it’s time to add the glass panel. Before doing so, squeeze a bead of silicone inside the groove, then slowly slide your panel into place and hold it steady.

Step 3 – Securing with bars and brackets

Now your glass shower enclosure is taking shape, it’s time to add the support bracket and keep it stable. Before following our instructions, you’ll need to decide if it will be secured to the wall or ceiling.

Slide the bracket into place on your glass screen – about 50-75mm in from the end. Grab your spirit level to align the bar perfectly before drawing around the wall bracket. Then, cut the bar to suit your space.

Finally, ask a friend to hold the bar in position on your enclosure while you mark the holes for your wall bracket. Then, drill the holes for your wall plugs and secure everything in place.

Step 4 – Finishing touches

Attach any covers included in your kit to finish the look.

Shaped screens

If you’re fitting an L-shaped, P-shaped or D-shaped shower enclosure, repeat the steps above for your additional screens.

Step 5 – Making it watertight

Pump a bead of silicone along the wall and bottom edges of your screen to create a watertight seal.

Using your shower

Avoid using your shower for 24 hours after fitting your enclosure. This will give the silicone time to settle and make your walk in shower watertight.

You did it!

High-five – that’s your walk in shower enclosure fitted. And, to top it all off, you’ve saved some cash.
