How much heat will I need?

All radiators have a BTU rating, which essentially tells you how much heat they can generate. But how do you know how many BTUs you'll need to effectively heat your room? Easy! Simply click here to use our BTU calculator and find out in seconds.

What is a BTU?

BTU stands for British Thermal Units and represents the level of heat a radiator provides. The required BTU level to heat your room will influence the size of your radiators. Fortunately, we offer numerous options in all shapes, styles and sizes for you to find one that's right for you.

How is it calculated?

This figure is calculated by taking into consideration the dimensions of your room (width, length, height) and the type of windows (such as single or double glazing). You can either use one radiator to reach the total BTU level required, or a number of radiators which reaches the required BTU level when added together - let's get to it!

Why do I need to work out my BTU?

It's important that you get to grips with what BTU you will need in your room as you want to achieve the goldilocks effect – not hot, not cold but just right! If you're overheating your room, you'll probably see your bills increase too. It definitely helps to consider the space that you have before making a final decision.

Questions & Answers

Question from Paul: Asked on 31/08/2015 Please could someone advise me if this towel rail is able to be used as a "dual purpose" heater. Basically can it be used via the central heating system during the winter months and via a separately installed 300 watt heating element kit for use during the warmer summer months. As I have never had one of these products before I would like to know prior to purchase. Thanks all.

Answer from Simon I this product can be used on a duel fuel basis so can run off the heating system or electric all you would need to purchase seperatly is the heating element as you rightly said.

Question from Janetta: Asked on 08/11/2014 How does the electric heated towel rail work? Does it need water inside? Thank you

Answer from Nathan McGregor Hello.

Thank you for your question.

Yes you would need to fill this radiator with a mix of water and Glycol (Antifreeze).

If you have any more questions please call our team on 0844 484 7678 (Option 1).

Regards.

Question from Justin: Asked on 09/03/2014 How do you hook this up?

Answer from Peter Hi,

Thank you for your question.

The heated towel rail attaches to the wall by 4 brackets that you screw to the wall and then the towel rail slides in to these brackets and you tighten the grub screws to hold in place.

You would connect the towel rail to you central heating systems using a set of either standard or thermostatic valves.

If you need any further help please contact the sales team on 0844 484 7678 option 1.
