Warming, comforting colours could be perfect for your newbathroom suite, as one expert has claimed such a pallet is bang on trend for 2011.

Speaking to the Times Colonist, Dominique Pepin, chairwoman of the Colour Marketing Group and spokeswoman for Sico Paints, said this year interior decoration is all about simplicity and making a home feel safe and secure, rather than harsh and edgy.

"Colour trends respond to people's needs," Ms Pepin explained and noted that opting for safe and neutral tones is a global fashion that can be seen in interior design showrooms everywhere.

And the expert also stated colour zoning can be a good way to add a little zest to a bathroom suite, as this method involved having a stripe or block of colour in an otherwise neutral space, which may work better for small bathrooms that are too compact for feature walls.

Her comments follow those of Dear Designer blog author Carole King, who claimed neutral walls work well with colourful features which could be something like a shower curtain or framed picture.
